A short conversation between Professor of Law and His Little Son
Professor of Law:
“Do you know what is the meaning of Laws?”
His Little Son:
“Yes I know what they are, and what they are worth. They are spider webs for the rich and mighty, steel chains for the poor and weak, fishing nets in the hands of government.”
Professor of Law:
“Really??”

have you seen the latest gudang garam’s advertising, the ramadhan version. there was a child that keep asking more and more questions to his mother that was baking a cake for ‘buka puasa’. ceritanya si bocah udah gak nahan pengin mogol puasa gitu deh, dan terus ngerayu supaya dapet ijin dari mamanya. akhirnya si bocah tak sengaja njatuhin benda disitu dan bikin tepung berantakan. si mama nyureng, dan si bocah bilang “ma, kalo orang puasa itu kan mesti sabar ya ma?”.
menurut gw, si bocah adalah rakyat junior(poor,weak,etc), mama adalah rakyat senior (rich,mighty,etc), dan puasa adalah regulasi. fenomena yg terjadi adalah si bocah berlindung pada regulasi(jaring laba2) dari ancaman mama. si mama sendiri terhalang oleh regulasi(steel chain).
jadi, gak perlu mendiskriditkan rich poor etc, karena sebetulnya regulasi/dan apa pun itu yang memiliki kuasa, adalah “yellow sun” bagi orang2 cerdik yg berpihak padanya, dan “kriptonite” bagi pihak oposisi yg tidak tanggap. kalo regulasinya cacat, berarti pemerintahnya cacat. itulah gunanya demonstrasi. demo adalah untuk pemimpin katro. sedangkan bagi pemimpin hebat, silahkan ketemu assasin. itu cuma perspektif gw lho, orang yg bener2 awam soal hukum(soalnya, bocah profesor yang disebut di blog engkau itu kayaknya fiktif deh).
I’m glad that you weren’t thinkin’ like the Son. I said that it was only a contemplation. If the contemplation was right, so it will be our duty (especially for me) to bring the law into the right track. At least, today, there is a big community of law in US (Critical Legal Review/CLR) who feel same with that contemplation and they want to guard the law as a really-really social engineering tools. Anyway, thanks 4 ur comment. I’m really appreciate it.
Ah, i forgot one thing, sorry Sir I haven’t seen the advertising coz i don’t have any satellite to watch Indonesian Television Station here. Cheers..
